Joey Magcalyao Wins the 2025 Bernhard Langer Trophy
(and somehow kept everyone else from stealing it)

WhatsApp Image 2025-11-29 at 10.43.56.jpeg

The two season-ending tournaments had more drama than a Korean telenovela.

Joey Magcalyao arrived with what looked like a comfy 19-point lead over Jesper Jensen and a 23-point cushion over Jomi Pegler — the kind of lead where most people would already be polishing the trophy.

But Jomi clearly didn’t get the memo!

With an excellent 2nd-place finish on Day 1 at Ayala Greenfield, he sliced Joey’s lead down to just 13 points, proving that the race wasn’t over and Joey should not yet order the trophy cabinet.

Day 2 – The Final Showdown

At Ayala Alabang, the final flight looked like something straight out of a Netflix sports documentary:

  • Bernd “Precision” Jückmann

  • Jesper “always best dressed” Jensen

  • Jomi “Chasing Hard” Pegler

  • Joey “Thou Shalt Not Pass” Magcalyao

All four actually could have won the annual points race, the Bernhard Langer Trophy, and the 5-day luxury escape to South Palms Resort & Spa — which might explain why the tension was thick enough to cut with a sand wedge.

But Joey played the round like a man who had already visualized himself on the beach in Panglao with a cold drink in hand.

He kept his cool, made no mistakes, and sealed the deal in style.

The championship flight marched up the 18th hole to a cheering crowd who looked like they had been waiting hours to find out who would have bragging rights for the next 12 months.

Final Standings

🏆 Champion: Joey “Cool Under Pressure” Magcalyao

🥈 1st Runner-up: Jomi Pegler — the comeback kid

🥉 2nd Runner-up: Jesper Jensen — always in the money

4th: Jerry Stehmeier — suddenly appearing out of nowhere

5th: Bernd Jückmann — steady as always

The golf gods delivered two days of perfect weather (a miracle in November), and both courses were in top shape despite enough rain recently to float an ark.

The year-end party at The Palms Country Club was filled with great food, great wine, and great stories — some true, some improved during the evening. The attendance from non-players, friends, and spouses was fantastic, proving once again that our golfers never say no to a good party.

2025 Gerald’s Cup – Washed Out, but Not Wasted!

The 2025 Gerald’s Cup began under picture-perfect skies — blue, sunny, and full of promise. By the time the first flight reached the 12th tee, though, the heavens opened, and torrential rain turned fairways into rivers! 🌧️

Play was suspended (and so were a few spirits), but golfers are a resilient breed — the players simply traded wedges for wine glasses. The evening carried on with great food, laughter, and plenty of stories at the resort’s Italian restaurant.

A HUGE THANK YOU to our ever-gracious host, Gerald Egasse, for keeping everyone smiling despite the weather. After all, a little rain never stopped a great party! 🍷⛳

The Summit Point Golf Tournament took place at the renowned Summit Point Golf Course. Known for its unique design—featuring replicas of some of the world’s most iconic golf holes—Summit Point once again lived up to its reputation as one of the most fascinating venues in the region.

Although forecasts predicted a gloomy and rainy day, participants were treated to surprisingly cooperative weather. Apart from just a few scattered drops of rain, the skies held up, allowing players to fully enjoy the tournament without disruption.

One of the highlights of Summit Point is its remarkable course layout. Golf enthusiasts were thrilled to experience holes inspired by legendary golf courses worldwide. Each fairway and green offered not just a sporting challenge but also a chance to relive golfing history—making the tournament as much about appreciation of the game as competition.

Celebration at the Clubhouse

Following the last putt, players and guests gathered at the clubhouse for the after-golf festivities. The atmosphere was warm and lively, with conversations flowing as easily as the wine. 🏆 Inhaye Ham Trims the Competition at the David’s Salon Cup – With Style, Swagger, and 44 STPs!

Stop the presses and put down your putters — Inhaye Ham has done it again! The reigning 2023 champion showed up to the 2024 David’s Salon Cup and gave the leaderboard a fresh cut, carding a jaw-dropping 44 STPs and winning by a clean 6-stroke margin.

In second place, we had Martin Kleger coming in with a solid 38 STPs — a score that would usually win, just not when Inhaye’s on the course channeling her inner Tiger. Third was Nilo Punzalan holding back Peter Kunz on count back with 37 STPs each.

💥 Low Gross honors went yet again to Joey Macalyao — for the third time this season. At this point, we’re considering renaming it the “Joey Gross Cup.”

In the Guest Division, Brendan Murphey emerged victorious. John Hravey nailed Closest to the Pin. Paul Carpio took Most Accurate Drive and Ian McGlen blasted the Longest Drive, likely causing turbulence for a passing drone.

🌤️ Course & Celebration Notes

The course was in fine shape, just like many of the players, and despite a few dramatic raindrops near the end, the weather mostly cooperated (thank you, golf gods). As tradition dictates, awarding and after-golf festivities were held at Säntis Silang, where great food and flowing drinks worked their magic, loosening swings and inhibitions alike.

A huge thank you goes out to our fabulous host, Bill Cammack, who managed to supervise the entire event… from Australia! Talk about remote management — or as we call it now, “Caddie from the Cloud.”

Until next time, keep your swing smooth, your drinks cold, and your jokes worse than your putting. See you on the green!

🏆 Haricel Pfisterer Wins Inaugural Talisay Garden Café Cup!

The first-ever Talisay Garden Café Cup made a spectacular debut at the scenic Sun Valley Golf Club in Antipolo, offering golfers not just pristine fairways and perfect weather, but a brand-new trophy to chase—and a party worth playing for.

In a plot twist no one saw coming (but everyone secretly hoped for), Haricel Pfisterer not only hosted the event but also won it, keeping the Overall Champion Trophy firmly on home turf with a commanding 40 Stableford Points. A true champion’s move—host the event, win the trophy, and throw the after-party at your own café. Respect.

Just one point behind, Inhye Ham delivered an equally stellar performance with 39 points, making it a proud women’s one-two finish. Steve Lawrence completed the top trio with a solid 37 points, clearly saving some energy for his multiple other wins that day.

🏌️‍♂️ Tournament Highlights:

  • Low Gross: Steve Lawrence

  • Guest Champion: Peter Kunz

  • Most Accurate Drive: Steve Lawrence (yes, again)

  • Longest Drive: Jacqueline Calnea (some say the ball is still rolling…)

  • Closest to the Pin: Luciano Zanrirato (so close, the hole blushed)

🍽️ A Celebration to Remember

The post-golf festivities took place at the beautiful Talisay Garden Café, owned and lovingly operated by none other than our champion herself, Haricel Pfisterer, and partner Jomi Pegler.

Guests were treated to an evening of excellent food, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere so relaxing even the most frustrated putters forgot their missed birdies.

Big thanks to our hosts and all the players who made this new tournament an instant favorite. With great golf, fantastic food, and a double-winning host, the Talisay Garden Café Cup has officially set the bar high—for both the leaderboard and the buffet table.

We can’t wait to see you all again next year!

German Club Cup April 16
Jesper Jensen Sizzles to Victory at This Year’s German Club Cup

Braving a heatwave that could fry an egg on the greens, Jesper Jensen strutted his way to victory in this year’s German Club Cup. With temperatures soaring, humidity thick enough to chew, and more trees than a national park, the course was anything but forgiving. The fairways were… let’s call them “creative,” but at least the greens lived up to their name—green.

Unfazed by the sauna-like conditions, Jesper was the only player to match his handicap, racking up 36 Stableford points like a man on a mission (or maybe just chasing the buffet line). Did we mention he did it all while being the undisputed style icon of the day? Seriously, the man makes sweating look chic.

Hot on his designer-clad heels was Alexander Pearson, finishing just one point behind with 35 STPs. Klaus Steven, Rebecca Carozza, and Bill Bocksthaler all tied at 34, but Klaus edged them out in a count back—because golf loves a little drama.

Other honorable mentions:

  • Low Gross Legend: Bob Horan

  • Ladies Champion: Rebecca Carozza

  • Closest to the Pin (a.k.a. surgical precision): Klaus Steven

  • Most Accurate Drive (yes, we measured): Kurt Wendt

  • Longest Drive (and probably longest walk): Jesper Jensen (again!)

The celebration teed off at the German Club, our generous sponsor, where a buffet fit for a king was served, and the wine flowed like someone was trying to lower our swing speeds retroactively. Laughter, toasts, and golf stories (some of which may have actually happened) filled the air.

Massive thanks to the German Club for hosting a fabulous tournament. Let’s do it again—but maybe with a breeze next time?

The AAI Cup took place at The Country Club on March 28, 2025, with the course in immaculate condition—lush fairways and lightning-fast greens provided a formidable challenge. However, one player stood out: Bernd Jückmann, who delivered an outstanding performance, scoring an incredible 38 Stableford Points!

Bernd clinched the title with an 8-STP lead, finishing ahead of Jomi Pegler (30 STP) and Joey Magcalyao (29 STP).

Sekt oder Selters Cup - Feb 2025
A Toast to Golf and Good Times!

Under near-perfect weather conditions, the Sekt oder Selters Cup took center stage at the Ayala Greenfield Golf Course, where golf skills were tested, champagne (Sekt) was popped, and good times flowed as freely as the drinks! 🍾⛳

Our generous host, Klaus Koppenhöfer, made sure that no glass (or spirit) was left empty, and a live band kept spirits high well beyond the final putt.

As always, Greenfield’s greens were flawless, but the seasonal winds had other plans, making for some tricky shot-making. Still, Dr. Tschangiz Scheybani, our reigning annual champion, proved once again that he thrives under pressure, clinching victory with 35 Stableford Points. Jerry Stehmeier (34 STP) took runner-up honors—for the second consecutive tournament (talk about consistency!). Gerhard Kropp also scored 34 points, securing third place after a countback. A tightly packed leaderboard saw five players finishing with 33 points.

In the special awards:

🏆 Low Gross: Joey Magcalyao (82) – precision at its finest!

💪 Longest Drive: Bob Sarangay – a rocket off the tee!

🎯 Most Accurate Drive: Steve Lawrence – straight as an arrow!

🎯 Closest to the Pin: Jomi Pegler – dialed in!

A huge THANK YOU to our host and generous sponsor, Klaus Koppenhöfer, whose fresh ideas and hospitality took this tournament to the next level. Kudos, Klaus! 👏👏

Until next time—may your drives be long, your putts be true, and your glass never empty! 🍾🏌️‍♂️
